Ahead of the big day tomorrow, our skipper wanted to speak to you…
We all know what’s happening tomorrow, and just like all of you it’s a massive game for all of us, too. Being lucky enough to play for Weymouth, I’m always excited about the next game, but even I know this one is different. This is one that the whole squad is looking forward to.
Results haven’t quite gone our way recently, and this has disappointed us just as much as it has for you, although last weekend we came away with a lot of positives and we are itching to get back to winning ways. What better way to start that than tomorrow.
It’s important to win games like these. It’s not only the club that means a huge amount to me, but the community, too. Growing up, I was always involved in the community of Weymouth one way or another. Since I’ve become club captain, my involvement with the town has only increased. I’ve had the chance to go into schools, alongside visiting the “Entitled People’s Camp,” where I encourage people of all ages to enjoy playing sports. I’ve enjoyed doing these things. It helps me impact the town of Weymouth in a positive way.
This type of togetherness is very important to me. The fans are absolutely massive for me. I know exactly how they feel in the highs and lows because I’m in the exact same shoes as them. Every goal, every tackle, even every time I kick the ball I cheer.
So, understandably tomorrow is a huge game for everyone. A cup game away to our biggest rivals, it can’t get better than that. But, I’ll be honest, as a player it’s important that I stay as calm as possible. I can’t let emotions get the better of me.
But despite that, you better believe that I’ll have the same hopes as my family, friends and all of you.
To be after one result. Come on you Terras.
