WIMBORNE TOWN 3 – 0 WEYMOUTH:
Weymouth went into the first half playing some good football and showing promise on the pitch, despite the drama and a flurry of yellow cards for both sides as they neared the halftime mark. But it all took a very quick turn for the worse when Wimborne Town’s Magpies scored three goals in 4 minutes and Gyebi was sent off the pitch. Weymouth’s remaining 10 men went on to finish off the game with defeat away against their local rivals.
FIRST HALF
Playing in their luminous away colours, Weymouth got the game underway, playing from left to right. The first goal attempt came from Wimborne ten minutes into play, and it was a steady opening start with both teams appearing equally matched.
There was a free kick taken by Hanger in the 16th minute that went in towards the penalty area, but this was easily dealt with by Wimborne. As the first half continued Wimborne made an attempt on goal in the 25th minute, but it was an excellent save by Clark.

A few minutes later Wimborne were asking for a penalty and there was a lot of confusion on the pitch, but the referee didn’t award one to the home side but Brandon Goodship did receive the first yellow card of the match.

As the first half was coming to a close, Weymouth were calling for a penalty when Burrows went down in the 42nd minute, but the referee made the call to not award. As the game continued, a scuffle on the pitch broke out and the referee had to intervene, placing both Bearwish and Burrows in the referee’s notebook for their involvement in the incident along with Wimborne’s Carmichael.
The Terras went into the break level with Wimborne Towns Magpies.

Weymouth continued to show improvement at this point in the match and had a number of further chances on goal.
But it was in the 69th minute that a goalkeeper error provided the opportunity for former Terra Josh McQuoid to score the opening goal for the Magpies- a shot from a free kick taken at 50 yards. As the game got back underway, within 30 seconds Gyebi made an error of his own, and Wimborne’s Fletcher took advantage and scored a second goal.
The pressure was on the Terras to respond, but Gyebi missed a header close to the Terras goal, and receiving another yellow card he was sent off the pitch. The error awarded Wimborne Town a penalty kick, and Fletcher took the shot from the spot, making it a brace for him and three goals in four minutes for the Magpies.
With 17 minutes left to play, Weymouth continued to try and respond with their now 10-man side. There was an offside attempt on goal from McCarthy, which saw the ball go into the back of the net, but the flag went up and it was disallowed.
As they entered the final ten minutes of play, McCarthy received a yellow card in the 81st minute, and as the match continued through to the final minutes of play, Wimborne Town had two further close attempts on goal and one offside shot that went into the back of the net.
