YEMI Odubade thanked the Weymouth fans after their financial support via the Wessex Fantasy Football League helped the club sign him for the rest of the season.
The much-travelled striker had been on a one-month loan deal from Eastbourne Borough, but the Terras revealed they had a chance to sign him should additional funds be raised, which the fans quickly responded to.
The Weymouth FC Supporters Association raised £500 in two days, which helped the club announce the signing of Odubade a week after the initial statement of requiring funds to sign him.
Odubade said: “Obviously I was here on loan first and I really enjoyed my time on loan. I felt really a part of the squad a part of the whole club straight away, as if I was there from the start of the season and the lads made me feel really welcome.
“Obviously when the time came down to when my loan was finishing I didn’t really want to go back at all so we tried to get something sorted and thankfully we got it over the line.
“Thanks to the fans for doing the fundraising so I can only be grateful to them as well for that.”
Odubade has been a popular figure in his time for far at the Bob Lucas Stadium, impressing the crowd early on in his loan spell.
Odubade added: “I think from the first game the fans were shouting my name which is always nice to hear.
“Away at Taunton they did the same and they continue to do so. It is always nice for a player to hear that the fans are on your side.”
Meanwhile, Weymouth have been drawn away at Poole Town in the Dorset Senior Cup semi-final, which will be played on Tuesday, March 5 (7.30).
