WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley is enthused by the “big potential” of Jack Hoey after the winger made a stylish return to action from a broken arm in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Dorking.
Hoey, who was out for over four months, came off the bench for the final 20 minutes to supply Abdulai Baggie with a 95th-minute winner in an electric finish at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Hoey’s absence came after being pushed into advertising hoardings while on duty for loan club Dorchester at Blackfield & Langley.
Watersiders’ skipper Harry Medway collided with Hoey, sending him sprawling into the barriers and leaving his arm broken, requiring surgery.
Hoey had struck a classy hat-trick for the Magpies in their 3-1 win at Hendon the previous week.
Speaking to Echosport, Molesley hinted the Terras would handle Hoey gently by managing his return to action.
He said: “I’m delighted with Jack. We definitely don’t want to put any pressure on young shoulders, but he’s certainly a player we’re excited to see in a Weymouth shirt.
“We feel he’s got big potential and we’re excited about what the future holds for him at this club.
“He’s had a horrible injury, he went out and scored goals but ultimately got a bad injury.
“He’s been training hard and we feel that with that hard work and attitude that he’s going to continue to grow and flourish into a very good player for Weymouth.”
