Statman Duncan Gardner explores the history of this fixture between the Hoops and the Terras.

Just the 10 meetings against our opponents today but over an impressive time span as our first meeting was way back in 1902! Overall our record is W3 D2 L5 and in Oxfordshire W0 D1 L2. Our most recent game was on matchday no.5 this season and The Hoops left Dorset on seventh-heaven as Lewis Coyle scored in the 7th minute and a Klaidi Lolos penalty in the 77th minute to achieve a 2-0 victory.

The last visit to Marsh Lane was in our National League South playoff winning campaign in 2019 and we returned back to the coast with a point in a 0-0 draw. Thomson played in the game that day, the only possible Terra who could play today if he has returned from injury. The only other times we have played our visitors at their ground was in 2012 and 2011 in the Southern League and both times we lost, failing to score – 0-2 and 0-5 respectively. Therefore we have never scored a goal at Marsh Lane – hopefully a stat that will end tonight!

From the current squads, Dan Matsuzaka and Harry Kyprianou both count Oxford City as a previous club but there are no known ex-Terras in blue & white hoops. In times gone by both Bobby Morre & Harry Redknapp have associations with each dugout. Moore played one game for Weymouth, a benefit match against Chelsea in 1979 when he was Oxford City manager and ‘Arry turned out once for us earlier that year in a Western Counties Floodlight Cup game – he was Bobby’s assistant manager around that time.
