WEYMOUTH Under-23s have instigated a major shake-up in their management system following the departure of boss Paul Tapper.
Tapper, who will continue leading Weymouth Women and playing a key role in the Terras’ youth setup, is succeeded by Craig Adams.
Adams, a UEFA A Licence coach, has been appointed by first-team boss Bobby Wilkinson and the duo will work closely together on Weymouth’s player pathway.
Adams will be assisted by Andy Yates and Ray McNab, the latter also taking up management of Weymouth Under-18s.
Player recruitment for the under-23s will be boosted by input from football agent Ali McGivney, who has also been involved with first-team signings, including Tyrique Clarke.
Weymouth Under-23 last season finished second in the Hampshire & Combination Development League behind treble winners Dorchester Town.
In a statement, the Terras said: “Paul took over the running side under difficult circumstances especially last season and has performed admirably in the role.”
They added that Tapper would be “concentrating more of his efforts onto the women’s side of the club” and promoting it “not just in the local area but further afield”.
On Adams, Weymouth added: “Craig has been tasked with developing both young players locally and externally with a view to promoting players into the club’s first team ultimately, he will work closely alongside Bobby and his team.”
