WEYMOUTH FC Supporters’ Club are going into partnership with CancerCare Dorset.
The big hearted Terras fans will be backing the charity during all of their future fundraising events.
Supporters’ Club chairman James Murphy explained: “The Supporters Club felt that they would like to be linked to a local charity and CancerCare Dorset seemed a very worthy cause.
“From now on, we will be arranging a whole hosts of fundraising events from which both the football club and CancerCare will benefit.
“Others things we’re doing will include a link between both organisations’ web sites, social activities and various projects within the community.”
And the new partnership was kicked off in style before Weymouth’s last home game of the season at the Wessex Stadium when local councillor Paul Kimber handed over a cheque to CancerCare Dorset for £500.
“Mr Kimber heard that the two of us were getting together”, said Mr Murphy, “and decided he’d like to get things going with a personal donation.
“Obviously we are very grateful to him for his generosity and I hope
this is the start of a very long and successful relationship between the two parties.”
