WEYMOUTH have struck up a partnership with the Dorset Abilities Group which led to them being in the stands for the 3-1 win over St Neots Town on Saturday.
The group enjoyed a buffet at half-time and were treated to brief a question and answer session with Mark Molesley prior to the match.
Luke Tomlin, one of the leaders of the Dorset Abilities Group, said: “It was great, we were invited to the match as match ball sponsors which meant we were allowed to meet all of the players, the management, grounds staff. We were treated to a buffet at half-time and at the end of the game as well and we were also presented with a signed football as well at full time.
The group now have an advertising board at the Bob Lucas Stadium situated near the halfway line.
The group have been offered to come and watch any home game that they want from now on for ten of the group who hope the partnership can see a member of the management staff hold a training session for one of their four disability teams.
Tomlin said: “We are hoping they can get involved with that and possibly a presentation evening where they could come and give out some trophies for us as well.
The partnership came about through a meeting with Luke Tomlin and Mitch Fox who expressed an interest in getting involved at the club and Weymouth felt like they wanted to form a partnership with the Dorset Abilities Group and the club hope it is the start of a positive relationship with the Dorset Abilities Group.
Tomlin thanked the club for their experience on Saturday as he said: “I would like to thank Josh Barton and all of the rest of the Weymouth staff and especially Mark Golsby who made sure we were all well looked after throughout the day.
At the end of the match Mark Molesley looked up towards the group applauded and gave them a wave as he headed back to the changing rooms.
Tomlin said: “That was great, it was brilliant because obviously we all stayed behind. Some of the guys are a little bit unsteady on their feet so we let the crowd go but it was great that Mark noticed that we were all still cheering and singing and it is superb for him to clap and give us the thumbs up.
“It made our day really it was superb.”
