DERBY clincher Charlie Davis insists to seal three points for the Terras against former club Dorchester Town is “the best possible feeling I could have”.

The Weymouth ace, who made the controversial switch between the Ridgeway rivals in the summer, slotted home a second-half free-kick to go with Billy Lowes’ first-half 30-yard stunner, ensuring it was Weymouth who took three points in the first clash between the Dorset sides this season.

And the talented midfielder insists the elation of a derby victory for his latest club is sweeter than ever.

He told Echosport: “I can’t hide that it’s the best possible feeling I could have, to be honest.

“I thought we were a different class.

“A lot of people have said that we can’t win ugly and I think we have proven now that we can.

“We have bigger aspirations than just the derby this year but this just gives us another foothold that we can build from.”

Davis was given a feisty reception from the travelling Magpies’ support throughout the contest – something he felt he used as added motivation for the Ridgeway clash.

Asked if the flack he received from the Dorchester fans spurred him on, Davis replied: “It did, it’s nice to finally have a song from them, to be honest!

“But it’s good, in football all you want to play when there is atmosphere and you can get up for it.

He added: “I had a nice year at Dorchester last year and I really enjoyed it.”

“There was no hard feelings but when you hear their fans getting on your back when you’ve given their club what you think is quite a lot, then it’s nice to be able to give something back to them now.”
