WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley praised the Terras for showing “every characteristic needed” as his side earned a last-gasp 2-1 victory at Tiverton Town.

Goals from Jake McCarthy and a 91st minute winner from Brandon Goodship for the league leaders overcame an early goal from Michael Landricombe.

Molesley said: “I am absolutely delighted. The boys showed every characteristic needed. It was a really tough place to come away at Tiverton obviously a bit of a rival of ours up at the top of the table. A real tough place to go.

“We had to dig deep.

“We were disappointed to go 1-0 down with the goal, again it’s something that could be avoided, but the character of the boys after that to keep playing, keep plugging away, keep moving the ball on quite a difficult pitch. They showed real bravery in trying to play the way we do and we got our rewards in the end.

“We were more than worthy of the win. We hit the post, we hit the bar, the keeper made a couple of good saves so I would have felt a bit hard done by if we did not come away with the three points.”

It was the seventh out of 11 matches that Weymouth have conceded first in the league, yet the Terras are unbeaten in those seven.

Referring to that, Molesley said: “I think that shows the character and togetherness and the never say die attitude in this group.”
