WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley is pleased with the grit and the fight his side have shown as the Terras recorded back-to-back league victories for the first time since early December with a 2-0 victory at Gosport Borough.

Harry Baker scored both goals in the triumph that takes the Terras four points behind Evo-Stik Southern Premier South leaders Taunton Town, with three games in hand over the Peacocks.

When asked if he feels like his side have turned a corner, Molesley said his side will not get carried away.

Molesley told Echosport: “We will never get too carried away, we will keep our feet firmly on the floor but it definitely feels like, with the manner of the performances, we have been quite dominant in those games.

“I think we have seen a bit of everything in our performances, but yes we have definitely shown the grit, the fight, and shown some quality as well so yes I have been pleased with the two performances but all it is is just another win.

“We have not done anything yet and we have just got to try and be better on Saturday (against Basingstoke).”

Baker’s double sees him up to three goals in the past two games for Weymouth, and Molesley praised him for being as “cool as a cucumber” for his first strike of the evening which meant the Terras led 1-0 at half-time.

Referring to Baker, Molesley said: “We had a lot of the ball, a lot of possession in the first half and we just could not quite get that goal.

“Sometimes you do worry when you are so dominant in a performance, when you don’t quite get that goal the other team can grow in confidence and think it might be their night.

“That goal came at a key time just before half-time and dented their confidence a little bit.

“It was a true Harry Baker goal.

“The ball fell to him in the box, and cool as a cucumber he swivelled his hips, sat the defender down and found the bottom corner.

“It was just that bit of quality we needed to round off a good first half.”
