Weymouth Football Club welcomes the news that the Government plans to support National League clubs while fans are not permitted to attend matches. While we are deeply disappointed that our loyal supporters cannot be there to watch the team’s appearance in the National League for the first time in many years, and we recognise the frustrations with this situation, we are grateful for this planned financial lifeline which is vital under the current guidelines.
We look forward to hearing further details and seeing a fair allocation of funding reflecting our business planning, past attendances and revenues. With the expectation of funding, we now anticipate being able to compete in the Emirates FA Cup, Buildbase FA Trophy and Vanarama National League, starting this Saturday away at Altrincham in the League.
We will treat our season ticket holders fairly and with the respect they deserve. We as a club are very grateful to our supporters who have stuck by the club by purchasing a season ticket and, as whilst we can not give them a date when they will all be able to return to the stadium, we aim to honour that commitment by giving them access to all our streamed live games and extra exclusive content through our new streaming website without charge. However, we understand and appreciate that everybody’s circumstances are different and respect that if wanted the club would honour a full refund.
Thank you again for all your support and patience through these uncertain times, we look forward to the resumption of competitive football at Altrincham this weekend and at the Bob Lucas Stadium next Tuesday against Woking.
