Weymouth travel North to Nottingham to take on Notts County in the penultimate game of the season on Saturday.

Brian Stock’s side were thwarted 3-1 by Boreham Wood on Tuesday and are looking to bounce back from the defeat. Tyrone Marsh gave the visitors the lead when his effort curved into the top right corner. Eleven minutes later, the Wood had scored again, this time Marsh was the provider, sliding the ball through to Kane Smith to strike the ball first time across the face of goal. The ball smacked against the inside of the right post before crossing the line. The Terras thought they had found a route back into the game when Jake McCarthy headed in a Ben Worman free kick in the 65th minute. Weymouth were pressing for an equaliser, which had allowed Boreham Wood to counter-attack quickly and in the 85th minute, Whitely killed the game off, slotting the ball past Ross after running the entire Weymouth half.

Notts County are hoping the Terras don’t live up to their “giant-killing” ability as the Magpies are pushing for a place in the playoffs. They currently occupy the last playoff spot with 67 points, however, just behind them are Wrexham on 64 points. Both sides have the same goal difference and if the Terras were to win, County will be hoping results elsewhere go their way, as for now, their destiny is in their hands.

County did this by beating Wrexham on Tuesday night, 1-0. Jake Reeves was the scorer on the night, firing a shot from 25 yards out, drilled into the bottom corner.

Kyle Wooton is the Magpies top scorer so far this season, notching 14 league goals throughout the campaign. Enzio Boldewijn has also looked sharp this season. The former Utrecht winger has 6 goals.

The Terras last faced Saturday’s opponents at the end of January. A tough game saw County take the lead in the 51st minute, courtesy of Elisha Sam. The winger drove the ball down the left, beating Dominic Revan for pace, before his cross got taken by the wind and had looped over Ethan Ross before hitting his left post and going in.

The side are unbeaten in 6 games, and their hunger for a playoff spot will prove a tough challenge for Brian Stock’s side. However, Weymouth have pulled off some incredible results this season under pressure from big teams- and with the chance to have a say on the final table at the end of the season, the Terras will be driven by this. One can expect goals and action as, with 2 games left, it’s all to play for with County.
