We’re delighted to announce that manager Bobby Wilkinson has committed his future with the club, signing a new contract until 2026.

Weymouth F.C Board of Directors: “Weymouth F.C today wish to bring our supporters a very strong and clear message of intent. We can confirm that following negotiations with Manager Bobby Wilkinson, he has today signed a contract extension with the club until 2026.

Bobby has been a revelation since joining the club in the most difficult of circumstances. He has shown the sort of leadership qualities we feel are needed to continue the rebuild of our club and brings the stability we need to move forward.

We still have many challenges ahead as we strive for National League South survival, but our message is clear: we believe we have the right manager in place to fulfil our ambitions of bringing success back to the club.

Alongside the news of Bobby, we can also announce that C.E.O Paul Maitland and Financial Consultant Simon Etherington have committed their futures to the Terras beyond this season and will be looking to offer Bobby the support he needs going forward and will continue to work alongside the Board of Directors.”

Bobby Wilkinson: “I wanted to show my loyalty and commitment to this football club by signing a three and a half year deal. It’s been a joy to be manager of Weymouth FC because of the way that myself and my family have felt welcome here right from the start. I chose to extend my contract because of this positive, unbelievable football club full of its fantastic fans and supportive board.

This job is certainly a challenge but I’ve extremely enjoyed the challenge and am proud of what we’re doing. This new deal of mine emphasises that we’re here for the long haul. I want the Bob Lucas Stadium to become a fortress again – we want to get club back on the map. We aren’t just looking at 3-4 months, I am looking to the future, we want to get the club back to where it belongs.

The main priority right now of course is to stay up, we need to keep the team in this league. Truthfully, we’ve never ever thought we couldn’t do that, it’s certainly there for the taking. We may need a bit of luck here and there, certainly fitness/injury wise! That’s been the biggest challenge for sure with the amount of injuries we’ve had.

Bringing in some new blood into the team has been great, but even that is a challenge as you want to bring in the right people. I’m proud of the fact that those we have brought in, pretty much all of the boys have hit the ground running and made a positive impact. But as always, we’re taking it one game at a time to make sure that we can we stay in the league. We’re already looking for players for next year. Myself and Mike, we want to make a statement: we are here and we want to work hard for you. We want to build something really special here and I have confidence we can do just that.

I have to say that the fans were a massive factor in signing on. The way they’ve made my family feel since day one, have bought into what myself and Mike are trying to do – I really appreciate it. In addition, I want to say thanks to Paul and Simon for their trust in me since I’ve come in. I’m determined to make sure that I don’t let them down.

I love it here. This club is a special club and I want to bring success here. I’m here now for a few years. Let’s see what we can do for the next three years or so that we are together for. Let there be no mistake, we’re gonna have some bad days ahead, but I’m sure that those good times are going to shine through. Let’s all, as a family, push in the right direction together!”

Everyone at Weymouth Football Club would like to congratulate Bobby on extending his contract with the club, and wish him every success with us going forward.
