WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley says Poole Town are getting “one hell of a player” as he paid tribute to the departed Josh Carmichael.
The midfielder spent two seasons with the Terras, but has now left for the Dolphins, and Molesley confessed it was a tough decision to see Carmichael leave.
He said: “It was a real tough one for us, because Josh is held in such high regard from myself and my staff.
“A player with fantastic ability. In the first season he showed what a quality player he is, probably in the second season he did not quite play as many games and didn’t quite have the impact of his first season but he has signed to Poole Town now and they are getting one hell of a player.
“It is difficult when tough decisions need to be made to further strengthen the squad, financially we could not keep everyone and further strengthen the squad.
“We decided that it would be best and he would have more of a regular chance at Poole than he would here so reluctantly we have to wave goodbye.”
Molesley also thanked Carmichael for his efforts in getting the club promoted to the National League South and says the club will forever be in debt to him for his efforts.
He said: “I just want to go on record and say what a fantastic player (he is). He was one of our first signings and what a great impact he has had at this club. He played a massive part in getting this club promoted which is something that has not been done for 10 years.
“We will always be forever in debt to him for his efforts for the football club but one which we wish well for the future as well and I have the utmost respect for him as a player and a person.”
Molesley is glad to see him join Poole, with his signing also being announced at the same time as fellow ex-Terra Harry Baker.
Molesley said: “The players joined us but they have left in a great place as well.
“They were not short of offers, people were fighting to get them. Poole Town have done very well to secure them and it puts them in a very strong position for next year because they have signed two champions.
“It is a great move for them.
“I like to think the players leave us in a better place than when they joined us and we thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.”
