JASON Matthews admitted “there is no hiding place” for both himself and his under-fire Terras’ squad at present, as they look to “take control” of their destiny when they host Frome Town tonight (7.45pm).
The Weymouth player-manager has come under stark criticism of late and the pressure he is under was ramped up following a 2-1 loss at Redditch United on Saturday.
With a play-off target set at the start of the season, Weymouth currently find themselves 20th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division with only goal difference separating them and the relegation places.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s battle against the Robins, Matthews told Echosport: “We need to step up and take control of the situation we are in.
“There is no hiding place at the moment, we need to go out and turn this form around.
“I feel we have the players to do it and I will back them 100 per cent.”
He added: “Luck went against us on Saturday, we completely outplayed Redditch and didn’t take our chances. We need to take them, it’s as simple as that.
“If we do that, I can’t see us being too far away at the end of the season. At the same time I can see why people are saying what they are saying, with the situation we are in.
“Unfortunately for me it’s a results business. In the league we have not got the results and we need to address that and fast.”
Returning striker Sam Jordan is set to undergo a fitness test after picking up a knee injury playing for Melksham on Saturday. Stewart Yetton (hamstring) is definitely out but the Terras’ boss has renewed Stuart Fleetwood’s loan deal ahead of the clash.
Dean Evans will return from suspension and Stephane Zubar could be fit to start. Calvin Brooks is set to captain the Terras tonight.
