CARETAKER-BOSS Paul Maitland was left questioning his side’s desire after the Terras’ tame 3-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Cirencester Town.

Maitland, who also apologised to the Terras’ fans for the performance during a club interview after the game, claimed the difference between the two sides’ attitudes was there to see at the Corinuim Stadium, with Weymouth left to pick up the pieces after being well beaten by the Centurions.

“I am bitterly disappointed,” he told Echosport.

Overall it was pretty poor. You could see the team that was fighting for survival and the team that was just playing out the season.

“The team it meant everything to, were against a set of players who were off the pace. I think you could question where one or two of their heads were at.”

He added: “The players were told in the changing room that they are playing for a big non-League club and you can’t just turn up and go through the motions.

“If it’s a one-off you can write it off but it’s happened too many times this season.

“It’s already cost one person their job and it can cost others theirs as well.”
