WEYMOUTH left-back Ollie Harfield believes the Terras’ part-time setup is the “closest you’ll get” to a full-time operation.
Harfield, 22, moved to the Bob Lucas Stadium after a 33-game stint at National League side Dagenham & Redbridge last campaign.
Often seen bombing down the left wing, Harfield has provided a stunning 10 assists for Weymouth from 37 appearances in his first season.
Comparing his spell at Weymouth to previous stays at the Daggers and Bournemouth, Harfield ranked the Terras favourably.
He told Echosport: “The biggest compliment I can give Weymouth is it’s probably the closest you’ll get to a full-time setup.
“The amount of staff you’ve got – nine or 10 – at training is more than Dagenham had, than Bournemouth ever had. It’s such a big compliment to Weymouth.”
He added: “There’s not a massive difference in the leagues but I’d say you get punished more in the National League than you do in the National League South.”
Discussing his move to the south west from Dagenham, Harfield admitted the pulls of home were too strong to resist after a conversation with Weymouth boss Mark Molesley.
He said: “The main thing was I did miss home a little bit. I was in London and it was my second year there because I was at Bournemouth the year before.
“I always speak to Moles because he was my manager at Bournemouth. We stayed in contact and he messaged me towards the end of (last) season – it went from there.
“Then, it was perfect, I could move home. I knew a lot of the boys at Weymouth because a lot of them are obviously ex-Bournemouth.
“It all made sense, really. It’s gone really well this season and I think this lockdown’s come at a bad time for us because we were picking up form.
“We were going to be in the play-offs. It’s just waiting to see what’s going to happen, really.”
