Weymouth Football Club are delighted to welcome fan favourite Brandon Goodship back to the Terras.

Goodship will be joining Weymouth following the end of his contract at Southend United.

Brandon returns to the Bob Lucas Stadium after a two-season spell in the Football League with the Shrimpers.

The 26-year-old striker spent two seasons at the Terras previously between 2017-2019 where he scored 75 league goals in 83 games.

A two-time league Golden Boot winner with the Terras, Brandon was also awarded with the National Game Awards Step 3/4 Player of the Season in 2019 and earned an England C cap whilst with Weymouth.

He has also been recognised by Weymouth fans in the past two seasons by making the shortlist for the club’s annual Hall of Fame nominations.

The return of Brandon has been made possible by the Wessex Fantasy Football raising a substantial amount of money to enable Brian to make the move home for Brandon a reality. The club would like to thank all those that helped the Wessex Fantasy Football make this happen.

On the signing Brandon, Weymouth manager Brian Stock said, “I am delighted to sign Brandon and to beat off competition from other clubs. The move makes total sense for Brandon, myself and Weymouth Football Club.

“Brandon needs no introduction to the supporters, along with myself they’ve seen first hand what a fantastic finisher and natural goal-scorer he is.

“I feel he left the club for the right reasons and I think the club supported that and it gave him the opportunity to go and play league football. He’s built up that experience and he will return to Weymouth Football Club a better player.

“We’re excited to sign Brandon, I know him well. I think it’s important that he’s in place now where he can get his head down, enjoy his football and score goals. I’m looking forward to working with him over the next two years.”

Speaking to uptheterras.co.uk, Goodship said, “I’m delighted to be back and looking forward to get going.

“Speaking to Brian and Paul (Maitland) about the vision of the club and where they want to take the club was a big factor in persuading me to come back.

“The club itself is a massive club, which is something we’ve said all along since I signed the first time. It’s been a sleeping giant and hopefully we can go again next season.

“I want to play as many games as possible and score as many goals as possible to help put the team up in a respectable position in the league and build on what we did this season.”

Goodship also shared a message for the Terras’ supporters, “I’m delighted to be back, the support we had last time I was here was unbelievable, even in a lower league than where we are now. I can’t wait for the fans to be back in the stadium and to be playing in front of you at the Bob Lucas.”

We look forward to Brandon carrying on where he left off at the Bob Lucas Stadium!
