Weymouth Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of central midfielder Xander McBurnie.
Xander joins the Terras having previously spent the past 18 months with the National League’s Barnet, he also had a spell during the early part of his career with Swedish side Ytterhogdals IK.
The 23-year-old signs having impressed in all 4 pre-season matches in a holding midfield position whilst on trial.
Speaking to uptheterras.co.uk, Weymouth Manager Brian Stock said, “Xander was somebody who was made available to us quite some time ago, he’s a player that we were very keen to sign and had to be patient with.
“He possesses a fantastic passing range with either foot, he’s intelligent and what I want from my midfield players is to be able to get themselves on the ball and Xander will do that in areas that others might shy away from.
“He will be pivotal for us in terms of playing as a holding midfield player. We’ve seen glimpses of his abilities in the last two home games against Exeter City and Swindon Town.
“We are delighted to secure Xander for the season.”
