Ian Hutchinson

Biography

Ian Nicholas Hutchinson was born in Stockton-on-Tees on 7 November 1972. A midfielder, he began with Halifax Town and also represented Berwick Rangers, Whitley Bay, Cork City and Gillingham before joining Weymouth in 1995.

Hutchinson became one of the most popular and enduring Terras of the modern era. The club ledger records 568 appearances—495 starts and 73 substitute appearances—and 56 goals. He worked under numerous managers, contributed across eleven years and finished his principal playing spell as part of the 2005–06 Conference South championship-winning squad.

After later playing and managing at Bridport, Hutchinson returned to Weymouth’s coaching staff in 2009. He had two spells as Terras manager, first from October 2009 to January 2010 and again from April 2010 to January 2011, extending his service from the pitch into the technical area.

Hutchinson’s long playing career, promotion-winning contribution and later managerial service were recognised with induction into the inaugural Weymouth FC Hall of Fame in 2019.
